First described by Paul Rose, M.D., back lighting provides an inexpensive way to clearly visualize hair follicles during dissection. Thin donor strips are placed on disposable vinyl sheets over the light box. With the room lights dimmed, hair follicles can be easily visualized so that grafts can be trimmed without transecting them.
